Bridge is really something special. I waited a long time to find her, and boy was it worth the wait. I'd first seen pictures of Ibizan Hounds in a dog dictionary at the library when I was 10 or 11. What amazing, gorgeous dogs! I did some more reading on the internet and was totally hooked. I wrote to IHCUS and was sent a great pack of information in a manila envelope, but was unable to convince my parents that these were quite clearly the most amazing dogs ever and that having one would make all our lives better. Ah, well. Someday.
That someday came April 26th, 2007 when I picked up the best care package in the entire world from the Atlanta Airport. Bridge is just an absolute joy. I have Alisa Barbour to thank for letting me give Bridge a forever home. We are blessed. Originally I never thought much past a pet dog, though I knew that eventually I would want to get into showing and coursing. Through the encouragement and help of Eddie and Selma Kominek, who have become some of the best friends we have ever had, Bridge has done well on the coursing field and started to shine in the show ring. She is a wonderful dog, and we both feel very lucky to have her.
At home, Bridge is combination princess and demon child from hell. She soaks up the sun, takes over the couches, and is the sneakiest thieving dog I've ever had!! Bridgey is forever trying to find something to get into. I was warned before I got her that she was "the bad one," but little did I know... All kidding aside she is a very good girl. A big snuggler, she loves giving kisses and hugs and ADORES visitors. She's even nice enough to occaisionally share her toys with the parrot. Already I can't imagine life without having her around.
Bridge is a great little courser and has done quite well so far. Her first AKC trial earned her 5 points and a best in field! Her second AKC trial was the National Championship in North Carolina, where she had the incredible honor of running off with the amazing Violet the pharaoh for Best in Event. Bridge currently has 92 points and both first placements towards her ASFA FCh, and 6 and a major towards her AKC FCh. We're very proud of her!
